Laboratory Technician

Summary
A full-time Laboratory Technician position is available in the Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in molecular techniques and in handling animals (mice). Additional expertise in light microscopy, analytical and molecular techniques highly preferred. The project involves studying the pathophysiology of pulmonary endothelial barrier function in vivo and in vitro. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Biology or related science with a minimum of at least 2 years of experience in mouse handling.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Perform various simple procedures on mice to include injections, anesthesia, small incisions and suturing, bronchoalveolar lavage.
2. Euthanize mice and collect post-mortem tissues.
3. Perform Western blotting.
4. Fix by tracheal instillation lungs of euthanized mice.
5. Photograph under fluorescent microscopy endothelial cells.
6. Assist in lab maintenance.
7. Perform literature searches on line.
8. Organize, analyze and file data.
9. Assist other lab members when necessary.
10. Other duties that the PI may assign.
