Summary

The Nuclear Theory Group at Old Dominion University is seeking applications to fill a position for a post-doctoral Research Associate to work on theoretical nuclear physics. The position is available Fall 2019. The chosen candidate should be familiar with both phenomenological and formal aspects of perturbative QCD. The applicant must have a PhD or equivalent in theoretical nuclear or high-energy physics. The work is with Ted Rogers. His group’s research interests and activities are concentrated on QCD and hadron structure. This includes: the application of perturbative QCD to the 3-Dimensional hadron structure; QCD factorization theorems; the extraction of Transverse Momentum Dependent distributions from the experimental data with a focus on applications at Jefferson Lab and a future Electron-Ion collider. A strong publication record in these areas of interest is essential, together with a PhD in hadron or nuclear physics.

.

Job Responsibilities:

Perform Research in Theoretical Nuclear Physics, specifically with QCD factorization theorems related to transverse momentum dependence. This will include writing computer programs to run certain calculations, as well as writing journal articles to explain the methods. In addition, the candidate is expected to travel to present and explain the research in professional meetings such as workshops and conferences. The candidate should be prepared to contribute significantly to the writing and preparation of publishable research articles.
