Program Evaluator

Summary

The ODU Research Foundation is seeking an individual with comprehensive knowledge of program evaluation. Work will be performed through the Center for Implementation and Evaluation of Education Systems (CIEES). The individual will serve as a member of the CIEES evaluation team, providing leadership and support for our evaluation of education systems with a focus on evaluation of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and will help expand the center’s capacity to provide high quality program evaluations. Experience with education research and grant acquisition are also expected. This position is supported by a Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) grant and is contingent on continued funding.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Duties include:

  •  MTSS evaluation including working collaboratively with center staff, partners, and stakeholders on evaluation of MTSS systems
  • Data management and analysis including development and selection of appropriate evaluation methodology, data management, and data analysis for multiple initiatives and proposals 
  • Data visualization including providing expert technical assistance to center staff on visualization development
  • Evaluation design including participation in all phases of the evaluation process, including problem definition, planning, implementing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of results for multiple initiatives
  • Grant acquisition including collaboration with a team to write grant proposals
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Work requires specialized knowledge in program evaluation, education research, database management, data visualization, statistics, or a related field preferred. Knowledge is acquired through study beyond four years of college but typically equal to a masters degree level of study. 
  • Experience in writing funded grant proposals;
  • Experience in program evaluation, statistical analysis, and management of evaluation projects;
  • Experience in working with qualitative data, quantitative data, and/or evaluation-related software (e.g., Excel, Tableau, SPSS, Qualtrics, NVivo);
  • Knowledge and application of data visualization; and
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including formally (presenting/reporting) and informally (meetings/email).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of and experience with educational research;
  • Knowledge of the implementation or evaluation of multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS);
  • Experience in mixed method program evaluation;
  • Experience in conducting focus groups; and
  • Experience in creating accessible reports and visualizations to varying accessibility levels/standards and making them available in a variety of formats (e.g., web-based, email attachments).
  • Candidate will demonstrate skill with analysis, display, and presentation of data.
