Program Coordinator - Child Care Capacity Lead

Summary

The Child Care Capacity Coordinator will serve as a community liaison between Minus 9 to 5 and childcare providers to build and maximize the number of childcare spaces available, connecting providers with childcare funding resources, and implementing innovative ideas to increase access to high quality childcare.

 

Job Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to existing childcare programs and family day homes on expanding capacity, becoming childcare subsidy vendor or military childcare stipend vendor by connecting with existing resources and community partners.
  • Build and/or strengthen relationships with community childcare partners across Hampton Roads, Eastern Shore and Western Tidewater.
  • Collaborate with military childhood care stakeholders to develop and implement strategies that will help to connect resources for military families and childcare across the region to increase access of high quality childcare.
  • Provide leadership and direction for childcare capacity building and collaborate with Program Access Team on expansion of publicly funded childcare spaces.
  • Work with Coordinated Enrollment team to assist with capacity building and alignment of various types of childcare spaces. 
  • Create and assist in delivery of presentations on the economic impacts of childcare with business and community partners, including oversight of Family Friendly Business Practices toolkit.
  • Work with Coordinated Enrollment team to assist with capacity building and alignment of various types of childcare spaces. 
  • Develop and maintain a local dashboard of regional childcare capacity data.
  • Participate and support administration of the Business Leaders Work Group for childcare access.

Education and/or training: Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, Public Policy or related field

Level and type ofexperience: 2 years working in childcare field or public policy, systems building work.

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities: Knowledge of types of childcare and various funding mechanisms; Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and communicate ideas, plans and processes; ability to plan, implement and provide reporting on outcomes; ability to organize and manage multiple tasks; work within deadlines and prioritize work; excellent interpersonal and human relation skills; demonstrated ability to work with people with diverse backgrounds and adapt services accordingly.




This position is eligible for one day of telework per week. The salary range for this role is $55-$60k depending on experience.
