Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to oversee and manage the daily operational activities of our research projects. Work will be performed through the RISE program at ODU VHS.  The ideal candidate will ensure accurate execution and documentation while organizing and planning research activities in close coordination with the research team to maintain project timelines and deliverables. Key responsibilities include monitoring project progress, identifying and addressing potential delays or issues in research execution, and assisting in the preparation and timely submission of project reports that reflect the current state of research and highlight progress and challenges. Additionally, the Research Assistant will facilitate effective communication among team members to foster a collaborative research environment. 
Job Responsibilities:
  • Disseminating information for the purpose of publication
  • Interpreting data developed for the purpose of answering the grant’s questions
  • Communicating with team members and discussing potential avenues for research completion
  • Organizing research activities and meetings to facilitate discussion
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and/or training: knowledge is typically acquired through a bachelors degree.  Master’s degree in public health or a similar field preferred. 

Level and type of experience: 

Basic research and analytical skills, statistics and data analysis

  • Proven ability to organize, plan, and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring all deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Strong attention to detail, with a focus on accuracy and quality in research tasks and documentation.
  • Ability to anticipate potential problems and proactively address issues to maintain project timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey research progress, challenges, and findings to both team members and stakeholders.
  • Strong collaboration and team-building skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
