The Veteran Outreach and Success Coordinator is dedicated to students with military backgrounds (active duty, veteran, reservists, guard) personal and educational development and is committed to providing guidance and support as students transition into post-military endeavors and navigate their time at Old Dominion University. The Veteran Outreach and Success Coordinator will work with students with military backgrounds in the following areas to support personal and academic success while at ODU: goal setting and decision-making, transition from military to student, technology literacy, academic planning, time management, financial literacy, health and wellness, major and career exploration, community service/service learning, and social awareness. The Veteran Outreach and Success Coordinator delivers monthly programming and engages in one-on-one, bi-weekly or monthly meetings to discuss various relevant topics and to refine students' college life skills. This position is housed in the Military Connection Center and will work with Military Connection Center staff and Center for Orientation, Retention, and Exploration staff.

Support the Military Connection Center staff in daily operations and general customer service pertaining to military background students and VA education program related issues. Supports MCC programming and initiatives. Actively participates as an effective member of Military Connection Center team by completing assigned duties.
Education and/or training:
Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or other relevant field with 1-year professional experience in post-secondary, high school setting, community outreach environment, or leadership in the armed forces.
Experience in academic counseling, advising, or related field. Experience in a higher education setting, working with student-focused initiatives.
