Summary
The Department of Physics at Old Dominion University invites applicants for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate specialized in experimental AMO physics, to begin May 1, 2025 and will be a 12-month appointment. This Post-Doctoral Research Associate will conduct research on trapped-ion quantum computing under the supervision of Dr. Matt Grau. The position is a two-year, restricted appointment, subject to funding, availability, and satisfactory progress.

Expertise with lasers

Experience with closed-cycle cryostats

Experience with ARTIQ or similar control system

Experience with Python, in particular QuTiP

PhD in the field of experimental AMO physics with a focus on trapped-ions, quantum computing, or precision measurement.

Job Responsibilities:
Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research as agreed upon with the PI.

Participate in the preparation of reports and manuscripts for publication as co-author


Engaging in self-directed professional reading, developing contacts with colleagues, and attending seminars as directed by the faculty member.
