Summary

Old Dominion University’s Office of Enterprise Research and Innovation’s (OERI) is looking for a Project Scientist to support the ongoing cybersecurity and machine learning activities at CSICS. The activities will involve developing tools for intrusion detection system that would leverage theoretical advances in cybersecurity, develop machine learning based threat analysis and develop operational tools. This position serves as a key contributor to the ODU's efforts to advance the state of the art in cybersecurity and machine learning. The Project Scientist position will also help foster interdisciplinary collaboration and promote innovation by sharing findings through publications, presentations, and outreach activities.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Contributing to development of the intrusion detection tools.
  • Develop, simulate, and analyze activities in intrusion detection.
  • Collect, process, and analyze data related to intrusion detection.
  • Prepare research findings for publication and presentation, including drafting manuscripts for submission to conferences and journals.
  • Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, and external partners to advance research objectives and share technical knowledge.
  • Utilize programming languages (Python, Rust, C++, MATLAB) for algorithm development, simulation, and data analysis.

Minimum requirements: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering.
