Summary

The Old Dominion University Research Foundation (ODURF) has an opening for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to carry out research in Fourier transform spectroscopy of hot molecules and aerosols in the University’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. The position entails the recording and analysis of molecular spectra with high resolution Fourier transform spectrometers. These spectra require interpretation to obtain molecular properties. Applicants with a strong background in laser and Fourier transform techniques are encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates must have experience in high resolution Fourier transform spectroscopy and a PhD in Chemistry, Physics or related field. This is a one-year position with the possibility of renewal for a second year.

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

Duties Include.

  • Analysis of molecular spectra with high resolution Fourier transform spectrometers
  • Record and interpret molecular spectra recorded with a high-resolution infrared Fourier transform spectrometer.
  • Work with new molecular sources such as a carbon furnace.
  • Write scientific paper drafts and reports as required.
  • Train graduate students.
  • Attend scientific meetings and group meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
