Summary
We are hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the development of a disaster recovery coordination platform. The role focuses on backend development (Django, PostgreSQL) and applied algorithmic research for scheduling and resource optimization. The platform aims to improve how volunteers, donations, and housing repairs are coordinated to aid vulnerable populations after disasters.

Education: PhD Math or Computer Science or related fields.

Experience: None Beyond PHD
Python, Cloud computing Django, including API development, PostgreSQL, Optimization algorithms including material assignments.

Job Responsibilities:
        

Lead backend development tasks using Django, including API development, authentication, and integration with the frontend and external systems.
 

Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure seamless end-to-end application functionality.
 

Design and evaluate algorithms for scheduling and resource allocation to optimize recovery efforts.
 

Analyze data from recovery efforts to refine coordination strategies and support operational decision-making.
 

Contribute to research publications and reports related to the platform and underlying algorithmic approaches.

Participate in team meetings, user testing sessions, and stakeholder engagements with disaster recovery organizations.
