Summary

The Old Dominion University’s Vision Lab invites applicants for a Postdoctoral Research Associate. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact, interdisciplinary research in medical imaging analysis and machine learning with a focus precision and personalized medicine.

Education and/or training: PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering or closely related field required.

Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Solid theoretical understanding and experience with the following research topics:

  • Diagnosis, classification and tracking of disease by combining genomic, proteomics, histopathology and radiomic data with clinical information for precision and personalized medicine using MRI, CT, PET, in other imaging modalities
  • Segmentation of longitudinal volumetric medical scans, shape and texture modeling and analysis, and their underlying mathematical and statistical principles.
  • Develop learning models including Supervised, Unsupervised, Reinforcement and deep learning in combination with Bayesian Statistics from large and small data examples
  • Foundation model adoption and foundation model pipelines development,
  • Resilience and uncertainty analysis of AI systems,
  • Scaling and systems theoretic modeling of generative AI
  • Develop and implement experiments on Large Language Models (LLMs)

Job Responsibilities:

    Responsibilities include but are not limited to:  

    Developing/support research as directed by Principal Investigator in support of sponsored research.

    Provide technical expertise in the area of medical imaging analysis and machine learning with a focus on acknowledged specialty.

    • Training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate student researchers.
    • Applying for grants and submitting proposals in support of Principal Investigator.
    • Writing technical reports.
    • Composing and publishing papers in international peer reviewed journals.
    • Presenting research findings at conferences and professional meetings.
