Summary
A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the role of sleep in the regulation of immune system and atherosclerosis. 
Candidates should have a PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant life science field. Candidates should have experience with in vivo mouse experiments, immunological techniques (e.g. flow cytometry, cell culture and transfection or transduction, in vitro immune  cell assays, cytokine assays, etc.) and basic biochemical (e.g. immunoprecipitation and western blot) and molecular biology (e.g. DNA and RNA preparation, PCR, agarose gels, plasmid preps, etc.). The successful applicant will be self-motivated to succeed in a competitive field.
Job Responsibilities:
  • work with live mice, perform in vivo experiments 
  • in vitro immunological methods 
  • design and analysis of experiments , writing grant proposals and manuscripts
  • supervising new staff members in the lab, teaching and administrative duties in the lab.
  • Other duties as assigned 
Education and/or training: PhD degree
Level and type of experience: Vascular immunologist, PhD 
Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities: Vascular immunology, Flow cytometry, histology, excellent communication skills 

This position is being filled through the Research Foundation, which is a separate entity from Old Dominion University (ODU). While we work in support of ODU, the Research Foundation operates independently and is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
