The Veterans Business Outreach Center (VBOC) at the ODU Institute for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IIE) is hiring a Full-time Boots to Business Entrepreneurship Instructor. This is not a university funded position. This is an ODU Research Foundation position with the Veterans Business Outreach Center, a U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) grant funded position. The person hired, will be instructing transitioning military service members and their spouses on Entrepreneurship, as a possible civilian career path. When not instructing, the hire will be working with the Military Transition Program coordinators on military installations throughout southeast Virginia and West Virginia. They will work with ODUVBOC leadership in the coordination and delivery/instruction for the Boots to Business (B2B) Program. When NOT conducting instruction for B2B, they will work on B2B scheduling, coordination and or mentoring, instruction to veteran entrepreneurs regarding starting a small business/growing an existing business, as well as, providing various resources for their small business; regarding entrepreneurship, Start-up business plans, marketing and funding plans, small business education, government contracting and other services. The Boots to Business Coordinator will also be responsible for administrative and reporting duties associated with his/her clients, among other program support tasks.
6. When required, assists the Director/Assistant Director with marketing/promoting the VBOC, B2B and other tasks and events. Minimum Qualifications
1. Formal Education preferred (Minimum)
Associates Degree in business, counseling or related field. Prefer a bachelor’s degree in business or counseling or equivalent experience.
2. Experience required (Minimum):
Military / Veteran programs background or knowledge – minimum of 2 years. Prefer military retired or veteran spouse. Prefer someone who has owned and operated their own business
3. Specific knowledge and/or skills (Minimum:
Knowledge of or background in Local, State and Federal government procurement process steps including registrations, pricing, & training.
This position is being filled through the Research Foundation, which is a separate entity from Old Dominion University (ODU). While we work in support of ODU, the Research Foundation operates independently and is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.

Final salary offers may vary depending on factors such as experience, qualifications, skills, internal equity, and budget availability. The anticipated salary range for this position is: $60,000 - $65,000
