Provide fiscal and administrative support for the Center for Educational Innovation and Opportunity, including accounts payable, lab school purchasing, account monitoring, recordkeeping, customer service, payroll, and employee onboarding. Part-time, 20 hours/week, through spring 2029. Remote with possible on-site work in Hampton.
Education and/or training: An associate degree in accounting, business, management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Level and type of experience Considerable customer service experience in a business environment and experience with accounts payable, purchasing, account review, payroll, recordkeeping, or similar fiscal or administrative functions using automated systems.
Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities: Working knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting principles and fiscal transactions, including accounts payable, purchasing, expenditures, deposits, and refunds; invoice review, payment processing, and financial documentation; Microsoft Office, especially Excel; and databases/information systems. Ability to learn Banner, TouchNet, and similar systems. Accurate data entry and recordkeeping; strong organization, time management, prioritization, and oral/written communication. Ability to serve diverse constituents, review financial information, identify discrepancies, assist with routine issues, work independently and collaboratively, protect confidential financial/personnel information, and work accurately in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
Familiarity with Banner, TouchNet, or similar financial software. Experience in higher education; some experience with Banner financial systems, TouchNet, or similar financial software.
This position is being filled through the Research Foundation, which is a separate entity from Old Dominion University (ODU). While we work in support of ODU, the Research Foundation operates independently and is a not-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization.
