The Old Dominion University Research Foundation is currently seeking a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to join the Old Dominion University
(ODU) Nuclear Theory group; the research group of Professor Raúl Briceño in the Department of Physics.  The position will support research performed jointly at ODU and the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility working on lattice QCD calculations of few-body systems.  

The successful candidate will possess experience working with lattice QCD calculations, Effective Field Theory, Scattering Theory, and/or high-performance computing as demonstrated by completion of a minimum of one (1) successful research project in one of these or a closely related field.  Additionally, a strong grasp of quantum field theory and quantum chromodynamics is required. 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Carry out theoretical nuclear phy­sics research;
  2. Work collaboratively with ODU and JLab theory groups, including graduate and undergraduate students;

  3. Write publications and reports;

  4. Attend conferences and workshops, and give talks on the research.     
  5. Edit and comment constructively on publications and reports of collaborators;
The position requires a Ph.D. in theoretical nuclear or particle physics, or closely related field in addition to a minimum of 2 years' experience.  Scheduled to begin as early as Spring of 2018, the position is a two-year appointment subject to satisfactory progress, with possibility of renewal by mutual agreement and subject to funding availability.
