Summary

Seeking sponsored program professional with one or more years of experience in Pre-award grant and contract administration.  This position will focus primarily on assisting faculty and staff with generating and submitting proposals for sponsored projects.  As schedule permits, position will also assist with Post-award grant and contract administration. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in an academic setting.  The successful candidate must have a broad knowledge in a technical field such as sponsored programs, finance, business administration, or contract administration. Requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite – including Word and Excel is required. CRA certification highly desirable. Salary commensurate with skills and experience.

Job Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities of a Grant and Contract Administrator, Pre-Award include:

  • Serves as a resource for interpreting grant and contract requirements and interprets funding agency guidelines with investigators, management, and staff. 

  • Manages all administrative aspects of the pre-award bid and proposal process including obtaining and completing application forms, budget (and justification) development, compliance review, certifications and representations, cost sharing, final consolidation of all required components, review of final proposal and negotiations with subrecipients (if appropriate), ensuring that all is accomplished in accordance with sponsor deadlines. 

  • Develops budgets and prepares supporting budgetary documentation and all required forms for inclusion in proposals, assuring accuracy and conformity with policies, procedures, and requirements of potential sponsor, the University, and the Research Foundation.

  • Ensures that proposals are in correct format, are complete, and meet funding agency deadlines for submission.

  • Solves unique, time-sensitive issues and interacts with investigators, agency officials, and university personnel in all departments/centers of ODU at varying levels.

  • Provides training and pre-award orientation to investigators as needed.

  • Maintains spreadsheets and databases for proposal tracking and management.

  • Assist with Post-award grant and contract administration as schedule permits.
