Summary

The Old Dominion University Research Foundation has a current opportunity for a Post-Doctoral Research Associate to work in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Old Dominion University. This project’s focus is the development and implementation of high-order entropy stable spectral collocation methods for the 3-D Navier-Stokes equations on adaptive grids. The selected candidate will work in close collaboration with Professor N. Yamaleev of Old Dominion University and an established team of research scientists from NASA Langley Research Center.

Job Responsibilities:

1.  Development and analysis of high-order spectral collocation schemes

2.  Implementation and debugging of spectral collocation schemes in a testbed code

3.  Development of grid adaptation algorithms and their implementation in a testbed code

The position requires a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics/Computer Science/Engineering or a closely related field.  Additionally, good programming skills in FORTRAN 90 and MPI, and hands-on experience with 3-D unstructured grid solvers is required. Knowledge of high-order spectral collocation or Discontinuous Galerkin schemes and grid adaptation techniques is a plus, but not required.

This is an Army Research Office grant-funded position with an initial appointment period of one year.  Subsequent years depend on funding availability and candidate performance.

Highly motivated and interested candidates are encouraged to visit the ODU Research Foundation Employment page and apply at: http://researchfoundation.odu.edu.  Please include CV and cover letter describing research experience and interests. The review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
