Summary

POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE   

Two postdoctoral positions in studying interactions of Ixodes scapularis ticks with human Rickettsial pathogen Anaplasma phagocytophilum are available immediately in the Department of Biological Sciences, directed by Drs. Girish Neelakanta and Hameeda Sultana at Old Dominion University, Norfolk, VA, USA. The laboratories of Drs. Neelakanta and Sultana are well equipped and use multidisciplinary approaches such as microbiology, genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, bioinformatics, genomics and cell biology approaches to understand the interactions of human pathogens with vectors and their mammalian hosts.

Highly motivated and interested candidates with a Ph.D., degree in vector-borne diseases, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry or microbiology are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates with strong background in using murine models, gene regulation, protein purification, protein-protein interactions and cell culture work are also encouraged to apply.

6.  Maintenance of research reagents and stocks related to the project

7.  Being a good team player

8.  Follow good work ethics and practices

9.  Meet the timely deadlines for research progress

10. All other duties, as assigned
